 Established in 1967 with 41 charter members, the 7th District Optimist Club has since operated continually to benefit the youth in St. Mary's County and Southern Maryland. We participate in all the classic Optimist activities, including the Junior Golf Tournament, Oratorical Contest, College Scholarship, Youth Safety Week, and Respect for Law Week, but also have many of our own youth-friendly activities. As a non-profit organization, we rely heavily on our fund raising events to help manage the costs associated with our youth events. This would include our annual “Blessing of the Fleet” festival.
